Dexalone Solution, Dexamethasone 2 mg/ml solution injectable for injection for horses, cattle, goats and pigs for the treatment of inflammatory osteoarticular conditions.
Indications: Dexalone
In horses, cattle, goats and pigs: treatment of inflammatory, allergic or shock conditions.
• In horses: treatment of inflammatory osteoarticular conditions.
• In cattle and goats:
– Treatment of primary ketosis (acetonemia, pregnancy toxemia);
• In cattle

Properties
Pharmacodynamic properties:
Dexamethasone is a potent synthetic glucocorticoid with low mineralocorticoid activity. Dexamethasone has 10 to 20 times the anti-inflammatory activity of prednisolone in molar equivalent doses.
Corticosteroids can decrease the immune response. Indeed, they inhibit the dilation of capillaries, the migration of leukocytes and phagocytosis.
Glucocorticoids affect metabolism by increasing gluconeogenesis.
Dexamethasone induces parturition in ruminants if the fetus is alive.
Pharmacokinetic properties:
After intramuscular administration of the product, dexamethasone acetate is absorbed relatively slowly giving a rapid acting response of medium duration.
Bioavailability after intramuscular administration is approximately 100%.
